On this day 6 years ago I witnessed something beautiful.

A nurse in his 'street' clothes; baseball hat, back pack over his shoulder, was leaving for the day but came to stand at a sleeping patient's bedside and to rest his hands on the patient's hands. He stood like that for a minute or so, and forever in my memory. He then nodded to me and left the room. This song is a direct descendent of that moment, delivered from what I optimistically imagine was that patient's perspective. I love the word 'angel'- to me it's a description not of some otherworldly existence but of how unselfishly perfect humans can be.
